Colorado : Not only a new chapter, but a whole new book...

Whelp. About a month ago, I packed my snowshoes, trombone, and diploma and left the city where I was born 22 years ago. I now find myself biking up the "highest paved road in the states" and doing things I'd never thought would happen so soon. I bought a kitchen rug and a welcome mat last weekend... It's kinda weird living on my own as I've always had roommates and while a 9-5 should make me feel like an grownup, I'll never consider myself the "A Word"... (adult) ... Life's pretty crazy up here though. Dodging elk, bear, and coyotes while biking to work and boy I've never seen so many stars from my rooftop. #socool. There's some pretty rad people up here to. Super laid back, yet adventurous, creative, and positive. But even though I now talk on the radio and live in the Rockies, it stills stands true that back home "This city is a part of me, Columbus is my artery". Click meeeee for more pics!

Mike's New Car

Just finished placing the last sounds to my most recent project of sound design on the Pixar short: Mike's New Car. This has been one of the most fun things I've had the opportunity to work on in a while. It also allowed me to regain some of my iPhone game music composition back up to par :) Head on over to my audio post section to check it all out!

If it's not apparent enough, I have fallen deeply in love with both "Freelance Whales" and "A Great Big Pile Of Leaves". This week I went to an Appleseedcast show (which was awesome) and Pile of leaves opened and tore the house down! I loved their jumpy stage presence and tightly crafted finger taping. They're also super nice enough to allow you to download their album on the website for free.....I'm also super into Childish Gambino who dropped his first EP at the begining of the year and came out with a pretty tight video for it. Check it...!

Pure Black Racing!

Something I would love to do someday. Be a professional cyclist

Pixar's Mike's New Car

Super stoked about my next project. For the next month or so, I'll be completely redesigning the soundscapes of the Pixar short: Mike's New Car. This has always been one of my favorite shorts from Pixar and I can't wait to put my own spin on things. I will be starting with a clean slate and adding in composed music, ADR, and foley. So pumped. Stay tuned for updates...

So it's been awhile since I've last refreshed here on the Last.fm...But as you can see, definitely still in a Jonsi state of mind. Also, really digging The Echelon Effect and loving what this guy does. He posts a lot to his bandcamp and does some schweet remixes to a bunch of post rock bands. February was also the month of album releases from Mountain Standard Time, The Oak Creek Band, and The Tree Ring. You should probably go buy all of them. Jus' sayin.

This Too Shall Pass

"This too shall pass" is a proverb indicating that all material conditions, positive or negative, are temporary.

It also happens to be the title to one of my favorite albums from the one am radio and a title track off of ok go's new album of the blue colour of the sky which has two of the most creative music videos I've seen in a while.

If I were ever to get a tattoo, I'd contemplate getting this phrase in some form or another. But then again. Kelly Osborne has already done so. smh.

Nevertheless, check out the vids below and put your 3d glasses on for the one am radio...

Homebrewing

After all my dreaming, begging, and late night studying, santa finally imported an Italian-made Homebrew setup down the chimney this Christmas. I've been researching this craft for quite some time now and since I finally have all that it takes to begin, I'm going full-stout ahead. My first batch which is currently fermenting will be an amber color medium hop IPA. Still haven't decided on a name for the first draft but time will tell......

This is what I spent my Christmas break listening to this year...Most notably, baths. Going to see them in February here in Columbus.

Justin Bieber Auto Tune Musical

A video like this doesn't need much explaining except for the fact that this is what happens when you leave my roommates and I a DSLR, Final Cut Pro, a Neumann U87, and access to well...a good looking guy and girl. We (Kurt Keaner, Kris Oprisch, and I) did everything in 24 hours and can't wait to do it again. We've got some more viral ideas brewing...P.S. Make sure after you hit play to bump up the quality to 1080p instead of 360...

Columbus Taco Trucks

Short documentary showcasing the local Columbus, Oh taco truck scene. I get hungry every time I watch this...(Shot and Edited by Kurt Keaner and myself)
